Unraveling by Elizabeth Norris

Unraveling (Unraveling, #1)Summary: After being brought back to life by a mysterious boy, Janelle Tenner has to keep up with her responsibilities and trying to learn what had actually happened the day she was ran over by a run away truck. Mysterious Ben Michaels allures her into a world, she has never bargained for and learns that in 24 days her world will be destroyed if someone can't stop it. Will she be able to beat the clock? Or will her world not see the light in 25 days?

Review: This dangerously additive book has made me count down the days for the sequel. The hardcore attitude of Janelle makes your heart pound and keeps you on your toes for what she might do next. I couldn't put this book down, and I'm not kidding! I didn't put it down and if someone made me I would scowl at them for the rest of the day. Right from the start it had twists and turns, and throughout. If you like or have ever seen Veronica Mars or Doctor Who, you'd love this book. Unraveling will sweep you off your feet and never put you down.

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1)4.41 avg out of 5 stars rating on www.goodreads.com
Fifteen-year-old Clary Fray never expected to witness a murder in her lifetime - much less a murder committed by three odd teenagers inked with black markings. After the body vanishes in thin air, Clary knows she's different. Her best friend Simon can't see the rogue teenagers - particularly the gorgeous golden-haired boy.

Taking place in modern New York, this amazing book will keep you on the edge of your seat!

Divergent by Veronica Roth

In Beatrice Prior's dystopian world there are 5 factions that you are split into when you turn 16 based on what you believe. The 5 virtues are Amity that believes in kindness, Candor's believe in honesty, Dauntless people believe in bravery, Erudite is known for intelligence, and Abnegation that believes in selfless. In Beatrice's case though, she is found to believe in 3 of the 5 virtues which can be dangerous if known about. People like Beatrice are called “Divergent”. Can she hide her secret? Or will the truth be revealed.

Divergent will captivate you into a world so addictive you won't be able to read it fast enough. It is impossible to turn away from the story unleashed inside.

Variant by Robison Wells

Benson Fisher thought that when he received a scholarship to Maxfield Academy his life would finally start to look a little brighter. He's been  bounced around foster homes for his whole life, and has never stayed at one very long. Maxfield was supposed to be his sanctuary - not his prison.

Now Benson is trapped in a school that is surrounded by a 20 foot tall brick wall and behind that, a razor wire fence. The school monitors his every move through hidden cameras. There are no adults, Benson has to chose one of the school's gangs to survive. Benson is in a place where breaking the rules equals death.

In this nail-biting novel, Benson struggles to obey to school's outrageous rules when he discovers the school's real secret: that playing by the rules means a fate worse than death.

The Way We Fall by Megan Crewe

It starts with an itch you just can't shake. Then comes a fever and a tickle in your throat. A few days later, you'll be blabbing your secrets and chatting with strangers like they’re old friends. Three more, and the paranoid hallucinations kick in.

AND THEN YOU"RE DEAD.

When sixteen year old Kaelyn lets her best friend, Leo, leave their beloved island without saying goodbye, she doesn't expect to never see him again. But then a strange virus infects the entire island and the government has no choice but to put it under quarantine. As the dead pile up, Kaelyn and her family are desperate to stay healthy, but its not easy, considering the gangs that have formed. While she struggles to find a speckle of happiness in this horrid, empty wasteland, Kaelyn can't help but fall in love . . . or become infected.

In this edgy novel, you'll hang on to every word, every paragraph, every page while you quickly turn the pages to see if Kaelyn could ever survive this unfortunate epidemic.

Monument 14 by Emmy Laybourne

Your mom hollers that you’re going to miss the bus. She can see it speeding down the street. You don’t stop and hug her and tell her you love her. You don’t thank her for being a good, kind, patient mother. Of course not—you launch yourself down the stairs and make a run for the corner. Only, what if it’s the last time you’ll ever see your mother? Wouldn't you sort of start to wish you’d stopped and did those things.
Fourteen kids. One superstore. A million things that go wrong.

This is an action-packed novel, six high school kids (some popular, some not), two eighth graders (one a technology genius), and six little kids trapped together in a chain superstore build a refuge for themselves inside. While outside, a series of escalating disasters, beginning with a monster hailstorm and ending with a chemical weapons spill, seems to be tearing the world—as they know it—apart. I'd definitely give it 5 stars and if you can rate it to 10, it would be 10 stars! It makes you wonder, what would you do if you were caught in a superstore?

Ashes by Ilsa J. Bick

Alex's life pretty much sucked after getting a brain tumor. Alex didn't need any more freaking sympathy. So in a twisted way, she was almost glad when the electromagnetic pulse flashed across the horizon and caused all electronic devises to go haywire.
Originally, Alex went to the National Park to say goodbye to her dead parents and her own personal demons. But the EMP ruined that fantasy. Now she's running though the forest, avoiding people that were more effected by the Zap than her *cough* cannibals *cough*, and trying to take care of not only herself, but an annoying 9 year old girl named Ellie. It was more than tough in Alex's opinion, considering that the EMP turned certain people into something that drained the humanity out of them.

Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld

Leviathan (Leviathan, #1)
Beastie or Clanker? Well, I guess I should explain. Alek is a prince on the run from his own people. He is the heir to the throne of Austria-Hungary, and uses war machines daily to protect his people. Deryn is a girl in disguise as a guy in the British Air Service. She must fight for her cause in a flying airship, called the Leviathan. They use animal mutants as weapons or tools. When both Alek and Deryn are thrown aboard the Leviathan, they fight side by side, but are worlds apart. They're enemies with everything to lose, yet somehow destined to be together. A wild, battle packed, astonishing stories when two worlds collide. Can you hold on for the ride? Now, Beastie or Clanker?

Witch and Wizard by James Patterson

This is a heart pounding, action filled book where no one is safe. Everybody knows that if your doorbell rings in the middle of the night, don’t answer it, but what would you do if someone broke into your house and tried to capture you? Hide exactly! Wisty and her brother, Whit after having their house broken into were accused of being a witch and wizard. They were told all their freedoms were banned-books, music, pictures, and any way to express themselves were off-limits. “Read it before it’s too late”!

The Dangerous Days of Daniel X by James Patterson

Can we say “normal” much? Not at all! Daniel lost his parents when he was 2 years old to an invasion of aliens. His parents were alien hunters and had the list. The list wanted by the Aliens had the names and characteristics of each alien needed to be exterminated, now in the hands of Daniel X. He is on a mission to hunt down Alien number 6.  James Patterson brought his writing to a new ultimate high. Daniel will be sure to surprise you! Hardcore readers will love it, and is sure to be a fast page turner.

Maximum Ride; The Angel Experiment by James Patterson

Hold on to your seats, Maximum ride will want to make you open your wings and fly! Please don’t fall with style off your seats though. Max and her flock are 98% human and 2% bird. This means they have wings! They were brought up in a lab, called the school. After escaping years before, Angel one of the six flock members gets captured. This is a fast paced, action filled book. After starting you’ll never want to put it down! I sure didn't! I don't know how James could have raised his bar this high, but he did!
