Variant by Robison Wells

Benson Fisher thought that when he received a scholarship to Maxfield Academy his life would finally start to look a little brighter. He's been  bounced around foster homes for his whole life, and has never stayed at one very long. Maxfield was supposed to be his sanctuary - not his prison.

Now Benson is trapped in a school that is surrounded by a 20 foot tall brick wall and behind that, a razor wire fence. The school monitors his every move through hidden cameras. There are no adults, Benson has to chose one of the school's gangs to survive. Benson is in a place where breaking the rules equals death.

In this nail-biting novel, Benson struggles to obey to school's outrageous rules when he discovers the school's real secret: that playing by the rules means a fate worse than death.
