Ever since the super generation - they are immune to all diseases, have extremely effective organs, and the only way they can die is by old age - the world has been in chaos. For some astounding reason, all generations after that haven't worked out as well. All men die at age 25, and woman at 20. Geneticists are frantically searching for a miracle antidote to restore the human race, crime has increased tremendously, orphans dominate the better part of the population, and young girls are kidnapped and sold to governors to bear children before they have a chance to die.
Rhine Ellery has 4 years left to live. When she gets captured, she vows to do everything in her power to escape this horrid mansion. Linden, her new husband is unaware or her capture, and is obliviously in love with her. And Rhine doesn't loathe him as much as she'd like to. He is her key to the magical world of fame, wealth and eccentric trinkets she never new existed, and it almost makes it possible to ignore the clock taking away a second of her life every time it ticks. But Rhine quickly learns that Linden's fairly-tale life isn't as it appears. Her father-in-law hoards corpses in his basement. Her fellow sister wives are to be trusted with her life one day and feared the next, Rhine is desperate to communicate with her only family left - her twin brother - and tell him that she is alive and safe. Only one question remains for her: Will she be able to escape before her precious time runs out?
